This sedulous artist is filled with wisdom and is on a journey to motivate and create relatable music for all. With his transparency and lyrical diction, this artist creates a style we all have been yearning for. The Neo Elite present to you rising Hip-Hop artist, Zachary Chamberz.

At the young age of three, Zachary recalls seeing the late legend, Michael Jackson performing on TV and thinking to himself, “I want to do what that guy does.” It was at that moment his passion for music developed. After singing in his local church and receiving recognition from the church’s choir director, he started to truly follow his voice. At the age of 13, just before returning to the Americas, Zachary attended a boarding school in Nigeria, and it was there he met one of his biggest inspirations. The famous Nigerian Afro-Fusion artist, Odunsi (The Engine), he was a great friend and guide for Zachary during his time in Nigeria. Zachary is inspired by Odunsi work ethic and passion as an artist. Another artist that inspires Zachary is the DMV’s own, Manny Wellz. “After watching his show, he blew me away with his stage presence and projection, his concert is now a part of my list of all-time favorites,” Zachary stated. After completing boarding school, Zachary settled with his mother in Prince George’s County, Maryland and graduated from Largo High School.

Apart from his everyday inspirations he’s also inspired by J. Cole, Joey Badass, Will Smith, Tupac, and Biggie. Although in his mother household rap music wasn’t stood for, but with the help of VH1 and VH2 music videos, he acquired access to the Hip-Hop culture and artists he still appreciates today. In 2015, Zachary ultimately left the DMV to attend the American Musical Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York.

When it comes to writing music, Zachary writes music meaningful to him. He stated, “It’s nice to make music for others to enjoy, but ultimately, like the artists that inspire me, I don’t write music to create a bop, I write music with meaning.” His latest EP, No Rain No Flowers uncovers the meaningful music he speaks about and the idea of trusting the process with patience and prayer. “You can’t have flowers without water,” Zachary stated. In all, when it comes to his musical style, expect authenticity and not trends.

Two years from now, Zachary has a goal to open for a major artist, as well as, work towards his own tour. In the meantime, he wishes to focus exclusively on music and like many others acquire a record deal and get signed. Zachary also plans on spewing out countless singles, covers, music videos, and his anticipated second EP by next year! Be sure to tune into Zachary’s newly released music video for his single “Sunshine” today!

If you didn't have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

If I didn’t have to sleep, I would use the extra time to play video games.

What’s one of your biggest pet peeves?

My biggest pet peeve is [dealing with] rude people. However, at the same time I believe in the law of attraction, whatever you put out into the world, is what you get back.

If you can hang out with any celebrity for a full day, who would it be and why?

This is a tough one but, I would choose between J. Cole or Will Smith. J. Cole is an artist who truly inspires me, as well as, the actor Will Smith, who’s also someone I look up to. I admire Will Smith energy and drive, he’s everything and all around great!

What’s your favorite saying or quote?

My favorite quote comes from the Bible. “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” Matthew 6:26.

If you could be in any past movies, Broadway production, or TV show, what film/show would you choose?

I would choose to be in the Netflix series “The Get Down” and the Broadway production “Hamilton”. The show “The Get Down” was fresh and relatable, and I loved how they touched on Hip-Hop.

Would you rather Win $50,000 or let your best friend win $500,000?

I would rather my best friend win $500,000 because I know she would give me at least $100,000. The first thing I will do is pay for music marketing and an A&R (Artists and Repertoire) manager.

Magnified Topic of the Week: Breakdown of Zachary Chamberz single “Manifest”

Manifest depicts the battle with doubt and discovering the good in yourself. The first verse in manifest represents how Zachary views himself when it comes to not being proud of who he is, the stress of life, and not being where he wishes to be. Whereas, the second verse is how others view him, that is, an accomplished, successful, and authentic artist. With this song, Zachary wanted his fans to grasp that “It’s more to who you are, than what you see.” With determining if you’re going to manifest the doubt or the glorious light others see in you. In all, this powerful motivational song is worth the listen!
